26

Well, my birthday is officially over. The celebration started Friday night and went until around midnight last night/this morning (whatever). Friday night we had a bunch of people over for beer-battered halibut and chips. Then on Saturday we went to Lagoon with my family and the painters and ended the evening at the house of my bff, Adrienne.

Many thanks to everyone who contributed to the festivities: My dad for flying me to Alaska so I would have Halibut. Kirk and Dorthea for providing the deep fryer and recipe. Spencer and Mel Lifferth for the awesome 63 piece Simpsons puzzle, that great lime drink, hours of playing Ticket to Ride, and ultimately for feeling guilty enough to come despite having family stuff at Bear Lake. The Athas for drinks overall but specifically the Virgils Root Beer Party Keg. Josh, Auj and Jack-Jack for the amazing WWF poster, truly inspiring. Whit and Dorthea for slaving away in the kitchen making what was the best fish and chips I've ever had while the rest of us kicked back. My dad and brothers for taking their employees and the rest of us to Lagoon every year. Everyone who called, texted, thought about calling the day before or the day after, or are only now thinking about it, I can't hold it against you since I don't know when your birthday is either. Adrienne Smart for throwing an amazing double-birthday party with Sparkle Cake with pinwheels and money inside and playing Ticket to Ride: Europe. And most of all to my wife for always worrying so much about making my birthday so great and also for putting up with all my stupid jokes all day, that's quite the cross to bear. If I've forgotten anyone I'm sorry, the music has begun to play....

Happy Birthday Matt! I've been 26 for a few months and it really isn't that bad. I also love playing Ticket to Ride--very addicting--almost as addicting as Settlers of Quatan.

Matt, I feel honored to have my cake on your blog. Only the really special things get put on your blog. Like the 4th North Sno Shack. Thank you for trusting me to make your birthday cake.

Ok. I've got five for you.
1. the Swiss planes. Love that picture.
2. June 22nd, Zermatt. You're the only one who really got a picture of that bugger. And it is boss.
3. June 20th, the middle landscape. That one is killer. Callier is pretty neat too but maybe not for the show. And I turned in a picture of that same mountain in the last picture for the show. We could have a BFF kind of moment and turn in the same things! Or not.
4. June 11th, you MUST turn in the first one of the lake. You really don't have a choice. It kicks ass.
5. The house or building or whatever that is right under the Lake Geneva one I was just talking about.
It's really too bad that you didn't take that one of you on the paddle boat. It would've satisfied your need for a self portrait. And it's probably the second funniest picture of my life.
And the picture of you and Whit on the steps in Vevey...so good. Pretty much I'm just obsessed with your pictures. You're good at stuff. Hope that helps.
